Sweet Tooth: The Deer Boy
"Sweet Tooth: The Deer Boy"
Synopsis
for Sweet Tooth.
The protagonist of this series is Gus, an adorable deer boy, who was born a hybrid in the middle of a post-apocalyptic scenario: half human, half animal, as a consequence of a global pandemic that wreaked havoc and generated the birth of babies of this type. Not knowing if the hybrids are the cause or the result of the virus, many humans fear them and hunt them down.
Gus lived safely with his father for a decade, cut off from humanity in a house in the woods, where he befriended a lonely wanderer named Jepperd and they embarked on an extraordinary adventure across what's left of America in search of answers. : About Gus's origins, Jepperd's past, and the true meaning of home.
Ten-year-old Gus leaves his home and embarks on a
dangerous journey that will show him that life outside the forest is more
complex than he ever imagined.
What is Sweet Tooth about?
The story presents us with a post-apocalyptic world,
which begins after people began to get sick and die in a mysterious way, while
pregnant women had hybrid children. Yes, no one understood the reasons for
these events, over time it became certain that this new species was immune to
the disease. On the other hand, if a human contracted it, he would die shortly
after.
These events led to the majority of citizens wanting to
eliminate each of these species, blaming them for being the origin of the
virus, while others only want to experiment with them, in search of a cure that
saves humanity, or at least what's left of it.
Thus begins the story of Gus, a half-human, half-deer boy
who lives hidden from the dangers of the world in the middle of a forest with
his father. In this way, the new Netflix series deals with a dark adventure of
a group of people who will search for answers in a world invaded by chaos.

Comments
I'll be honest my friends, I had never heard of this story, it was thanks to the trailer they released a few weeks ago that I discovered this comic by artist Jeff Lemire. The world has been hit by a deadly virus that eliminated thousands of humans; at the same time, half-human, half-animal hybrid babies began to appear.
Gus is a half-human half-deer hybrid boy who will be forced to face a world where hybrids are threatened by the world's deadliest plague: humans. what makes Sweet Tooth unique in its kind, is the way in which the story is told, as it is narrated by an omnipresent narrator who will accompany us from beginning to end and there is more than one "twist" that will leave us with the square eye.
The visual aspect is what stands out the most; Gus's hybrid details, his antlers and deer ears, look wonderful and quite real. Unlike the original work, which is much darker, the world of Sweet Tooth is full of color and is shown from the make-up of the hybrids to the general world in which the story takes place.
The performances are just as good, the young actor who plays Gus, Christian Convery, does a phenomenal job as do actors Nonso Anozie and Stefania LaVie Owen. So far Sweet Tooth has caught me without a doubt and it's good to get away from the superhero series and movies, thanks to the series it made me want to read the original material.
I see a lot of potential for the series, I hope that the second season does not drop in quality and that it has more points in favor than against, I recommend it without a doubt.
